La Curacha Restaurant is a modern tropical floating restaurant inspired by the famous "Curacha" or deep sea spanner crab, which is common in the seas of Zamboanga and Sulu.
The roof of the restaurant closely mimics the irregularly-shaped shell of the Curacha, and is made of polycarbonate thatch material to resemble native thatch roofing, but is more resilient to weathering. Bamboo and various types of wood are also incorporated into the design of the structure to strengthen the tropical identity of the restaurant by the sea.
